Make a Feint in the East while Attacking in the West
In an apocryphal Chinese tale, a person is told that a shop will be robbed in broad daylight. They tarried and watched in anticipation. When they returned to their lodgings, they found that their room had been robbed.
Make a Feint in the East While Attacking in the West is associated with the 44th hexagram, Wind under Heaven. This represents Wind blowing over the earth, penetrating everywhere, discerning and making known all conditions. The first line is soft, and represents Wind's plasticity, which finds the weaknesses in the opponent's defenses [1], [28].
